Waffle Build

Thanks again to Ken and everyone who gave their money to me.  :icon_tongue:

In the spirit of the rules, I want to start a new project that will be Warmoth finished (so I don't take forever) and I have a few ideas. The poll is for fun and discussion.

1. I've never owned a Strat, so one inspired by Jeff Beck with a Fender American Standard bridge and LSR nut would be cool. I like trans blue on a Strat so that's probably there too. An exotic neck might round it out nicely.

2. I really like the look of a carved goldtop with P90s. Not sure whether it would be a LP, LPS, or VIP (feel free to suggest), but it would be a Mahogany/Maple body. Might use a small trapeze tailpiece instead of a stoptail.

3. A baritone seems like it would be useful and fun to play. Something with an upper horn seems like a good idea (Jazzmaster?, Z Body?, Musiclander?) Thinking about the Schaller 475 Bridge. Neck and body woods would be up for discussion.

Everyone is welcome to help me decide what I want to build.  :icon_jokercolor:

I'd go with the carved goldtop, as its on the expensive side of things.  Since the money for the build sort of fell into your lap I'd splurge a little more than if I had to save up for it. 

Plus, a goldtop with P90s is so incredibly cool looking.

But the choice is yours.  Whatever makes you happy is what you should decide.  Have fun with it.

But since Warmoth hasn't introduced waffle bodies yet, I voted for the Strat. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to LPs... I know that bolt-ons are supposed to sustain just as well according to neutral studies, but there's a certain inexplicable difference between the feeling of a set neck and the feeling of a bolt-on...

I'll endorse the goldtop if you give it a VIP body... although with as much spending money as you have, you could get a really nice figured exotic top...

Why would you EVER try to use it if you can use waffle??? I'm the nonsense, but this makes NO SENSE!

I love Strats so that's where my vote went.

That said, had I won it, I was going to go with either a thinline or hollow L5S 12 string with a burst finish and binding, exotivc neck with binding, etc. Not that it matters, but I'm still bitter about losing and had to say it.  KIDDING! Congrats on teh win. What I really mean is, if I had won I was going to build something that I probably wouldn't otherwise due to cost. So... contrary to my vote I guess going with a carved top isn't a bad idea. You can build a Strat relatively inexpensively later on.

So... I guess I'm pushing towardsthe goldtop but am too much of a Start fan to actually vote for anything else.  :laughing7:
