Hi Everybody--

I have been considering going up in the world in regards to an amp. I have been looking at the Vox AC-30 CC and I'm impressed, but I'm also naive. Has anyone else had any experiences with the 30(likes/dislikes)?

Thanks!!

I am a recent devotee of the AC15 CC. That vox sound is me, through and through. The AC30 sounds killer too, it was just larger and more power than I needed. It also has more knobs, which only served to confuse me as i tried to dial in my tone. But seeing as how it's just the big brother to the AC15, I'm willing to bet that it's awesome. Perfect sound for blues, jazz, and rock. Not sure about heavy rock, and I wouldn't go to it for metal.

Fantastic amp, but you might want to replace the speaker/s and the reverb tank.  Other than that though, totally gig-worthy.  Honestly 30 watts is all ANYONE ever needs- if you're playing a big club or an arena, mic the amp.

I dont know if id want to gig with an amp as heavy as an AC30! Ill leave that one to Brian May's roadies!

My best friend used to have an Ampeg VT22 loaded with 2 12' Electrovoice speakers. It made you hurt just to look at the beast.

Where will you use the amp? It's a very loud amp, not versatile for an apartment or a house in a busy neighborhood.
Invest more money, you can't have a Vox without blue speakers. They are essential to the classic Vox sound.
Know also that they are not the most reliable amps in the world, I have read many times people having problems with them.

The gripe I have heard about them is that the EL84's get really hot and tend to die faster.  They are packed into the box pretty tightly and there is not much airflow.  Then again they do sound marvelous.  They are heavy, and 30 watts is club range wattage, so apartment use (if that is your thing) is a bit of a challenge without visits from neighbors or authorities.  To get around the weight, a friend of mine had his on a weird dolly set up.  The handle just telescoped back down and the amp sat on this thing on the floor.  I kinda wanted to clone one and put it in an airy head.  Sometimes I think all my projects are all based on bad jokes.

The AC15 has a more usable wattage range for my uses, and still has enough wattage for a club.  If you are duking it out with a 700 watt bass amp, maybe not.  Just some thoughts.
