Just, and I mean just out of the box! The "Green Dragon" has arrived. I thought it was going to be great and it far surpasses that expectation. I can hardly wait to get it together and start playing but it looks like I will have to delay assembly a little to take care of some other things.

It's just more testament to what Warmoth creates. Every bit of it has had attention to detail. More to come!

'Nuff said.

I'm not big on greens, but I've always loved the dragon burst Warmoth offers. The natural binding really sets it off. :icon_thumright:

I love burst finishes or a dye on a nice piece of Zebrawood, maybe even better than on high grade flame maple.  This is just plain gorgeous, well done.

Was this a unique choice top?

That's just friggin' awesome Ken, but why no Dragon burst on the headstock and just plain green... :dontknow:

Yes is very nice, I think that was a showcase body already finished, hence not being able to do the same on headstock.
Just a guess  :icon_biggrin:

Good question... To which I don't have a good answer. Certainly in retrospect it would have been a good idea. I think I was thinking merely that burst should only reside on the body. Oh well, I still love it!

Updown, there was one in the showcase very similar, it was routed for a trem. I passed on it based on that then had them make me one just like it in a hardtail.

The top was not a unique choice. Just like all of my guitars I just went with "luck of the draw". It's always worked out!

That is one gorgeous piece of work! You're going to be afraid to play it!

Thanks all.

Cagey, you may be right. But if it doesn't get played, it's just a hunk-o-wood. I think I will get over the shiny of it after a while.

Looks great on BK too.

Is it BK or Zebra? .... and what is the fretboard, it looks FRICKIN' AMAZING!!

I reckon the green headstock will look super-cool if you set it of with black tuners to match the burst on the body  :icon_thumright:

Looks amazing Ken. Zebra lam top with zebra fingerboard? W's VIP's are one on the best body shapes and super comfortable. Planning any specially wound pickups for this one?

Yeah, I'm quite amazed with how the body feels. I should have had one of these some time ago. I have some special pups for it. It's a new pickup I have made which is a version of what I do. This design is helps dial in where the breakup point is. I'll have to expand on that explanation in the future.

The specs are:

VIP Body, Solid, Mahogany with Zebra top, HXH, recessed controls, electro socket jack, Dragon Burst with Natural Mask Binding.

Neck: Warmoth headstock, compound radius, 24 3/4" scale, 59' roundback profile, black tusq nut , stainless 6115 frets, Zebrawood fretboard, quartersawn maple neck, no face dots, side dots only.

I was looking for a guitar with a different feel so I went with the 24 3/4" scale. I am looking forward to playing that. It's been some time since I've had a guitar in that scale. The quarter sawn maple neck will be nice and rigid. It's a beautiful piece of wood too. There are a few birdseyes and slight flame here and there.

I was going to ask if you were putting <GFS|EMG|DiMarzio|SD> whatever in there :icon_jokercolor:, but it looks like someone else already brought up the topic of pickup selection.  I'm anxious to hear it.

KOOL build Ken looks real good to me, outside the vip recipe, does the Kingwood have a finish like a maple board (bit of a sheen), when i see "TroubleTreble" & new pickup recipe got to say :kewlpics: oh can we see some of that maple also. Thanks leo.

I will try to get some pics of the maple soon. The Zebrawood fretboard is finished just like a maple board would be, in clear gloss.

This is quite possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Please tell me some bareknuckle might go into this beauty I'd leave my wife for........
