This one is my first VIP and the first build I documented in details:

The inspiration from it was a PRS Private Stock build from Brian's Guitars (www.briansguitars.com):

There were a few firsts for me with that one:
- building/routing a curly maple back plate and dying it (TransTint)
- dying tuner buttons to match the body and back plate
- potting and installing metal covers on humbuckers

Specs:
  • Body: semi-hollow quilt maple + mahogany. Finished by a pro shop in "dragon breath glow" effect using dyes only.
  • Neck: Wenge with ebony fingerboard/headstock veneer/trussrod cover. 6150 stainless steel frets, no inlays.
  • Hardware:every metal part has Como Black finish.
  • Electronics: Gibson BurstBucker 2 & 3 with coil split
  • Tuners: Gotoh SG301 updated with dyed curly maple buttons
  • Backplates: I had one made out of mahogany and it was finished with the body. But it's fairly thin and not so flat anymore, so just for fun I tried making one out of curly maple and dyed it to match the body (I made it thicker in the center to hopefully mitigate warping).

The last two pics are from the 1st version of the guitar with the metal buttons and mahogany backplate.
