Variax Strat Body vs Strat Replacement Body

Hey, I'm looking into building a strat style guitar. What is the difference, if any, between the Variax model and the regular Strat? Would you suggest one over the other?

The routing is dramatically different. No regular pickups, no vibrato option. There are other details, but you're better off looking and reading for yourself here.
