Using Minwax oilstains

Hey Guys,

I was planning on using a sedona red oil stain for my mahogany strat.  I already filled it using timbermate mahogany filler and was wondering if I should thin the stain with mineral spirits (or anything else) before finishing, then topping with tru oil.  Does this help with color control or evennes.  It says do not thin but I've heard from a few people that you should definitely thin.  Just wanted an opinion.  Thx

The more you thin the stain, the more transparent it'll be. Other than that, it doesn't really matter. So, let your sensibilities be your guide.
