UPS man brought me boxes

Hi, all. First post here on UW. Have been planning this project for several years, and now that it's finally underway thought I'd start sharing it.

I have been stockpiling parts for a few months now, and yesterday my Warmoth order arrived after just 4wks. Apparently the satin finishes don't take as long as the traditional finishes, and the neck didn't get one at all. Solid Alder HH Jazzmaster body with satin alpine white finish, TonePros bridge and string-thru, roasted maple neck that I had to spring for the Tommi inlays on, and TUSQ XL nut. Everything looks beautiful right out of the box. The neck and body are both smooth as can be, no stickiness or skipping like some finishes - esp gloss ones - have. I'm pretty excited to get this thing all together and start playing it. The nicest guitar I've ever owned is an Epi LP Custom, so this is going to be a real treat for me.

Wow, that is seriously cool. I love the cross inlays. Look forward to seeing it come together.

I like this one a lot...

I wonder if they'd do the Tommi crosses upside down if I requested it, haha. I've been thinking about getting an all-maple 25.5" neck for my VIP, with black binding and inlays. Upside down crosses would fit the bill beautifully...

Welcome to the forum! We love fresh blood!  :laughing7:

That's gonna be a killer fiddle. It's always good to see someone do a Jazzmaster or Jaguar up properly.

Now, just because I can't help myself...

Mommy? Where's daddy? He's been gone for so long. Do you think he'll ever come home?

All right! Another JM. Looking forward to your build. Welcome to the forum.

Oh, I remember hearing those songs for the first time. Epic!
And all those early albums produced by Bob Ezrin ... Masterpieces!

Yeah, showing my age :toothy11:

Anyway, back to Mr. Fry's project...

Since you have a raw neck, you have to read this thread. It's for your own good. You may think your neck is smooth, but trust me. You wanna do this.

Damn, Alpine White looks awesome in Satin. I love those solid colours in Satin. Seafoam Green, mhmm...

I'd love a little ol' seafoam green JM with a white pearl pickguard, vintage neck (maple / rosewood)... :salivating:

If y'all like seafoam green w/ cream highlights, here's a teaser of a Starcaster that's in process...

Oh, sir, I wish you hadn't posted that – it's a metaphorical *nyah, nyah, nyah* to the Mooncasterless, of whom I am one. And seafoam green is my very favorite green (and I don't have a green guitar, but one day, one day...)

What kind of pups you gonna put in it?

(Apologies, OP, for the diversion. It won't happen again.)

One of my favourite things about coming on here is seeing so many Jazzmasters, and this one's a beauty. I've got a '62 reissue from the early 2000s at home and I've always had a soft spot for offsets. The roasted maple neck is something I'd never considered on a JM, but this makes two that have cropped up on white bodies recently that just look great. Might be something to think about for next time...

Wow, guys - thanks for all the replies. I'll start another thread to track the actual build (or at least as much as I can - as rewarding as I think it would be to do it all myself, I've got enough in this already that I don't want to screw anything up. Already talked to a tech about doing the assembly/wiring/etc). Probably get everything out and do a mock-up today just to see what it would look like together. Is technically a JM, but won't be like any JMs out there. Is the plan, at least!

But for the pups, have high output Dimarzios (Super D bridge, Paf Pro neck) on a 5-way Sswitch.
