Got the ship notice on my VIP body. Due for delivery on Fri. Will post pics next weekend.

Chambered mahogany VIP body
flame maple top
recessed knobs
PRS knob layout
recessed route for wilkinson trem
finished with yellow dye on top with a clean line to a trans brown back

ordered it right before the price increase

not sure what neck is going on it
thoughts have ranged from rosewood with a macassar ebony board to a canary with a braz rosewood board
(I am a little concerned about the guitar as a whole being a little more bright than dark)
contour will be 59 or boatneck
graphite nut

appointments will be
SD PRails
std 3 way pup selector
vol and tone will have push pull so I can select the P90, the SC rail, the 2 in series, or the 2 in parallel
kluson tonepro tuners
basically all appointments will be in gold or creme

+1
I have never heard a "bright" sounding guitar with a mahogany body... with rosewood, maple, or ebony fretboards. Get a neck that feels and looks good to you. Can't go wrong with a slick, unfinished exotic wood neck in my opinion (I'm sure that others will agree).

That sounds like a pretty sweet VIP Mark, for the neck may I suggest mahogany/ziricote or possibly a wenge/ziricote? I have one of each and love the ziricote... :headbang1:

Not sure if you caught it, my fear is not bright enough.
Maybe wenge with a macassar ebony board.

Oh, I guess I misread. Then I'd say all maple then if you want it to be brighter. Also make sure to use 500k pots...

I have a chambered Les Paul, Mahogany, with a wenge neck and ebony board.  It is a lot brighter than a regular Les Paul, but still rocks with the best of them.  Seems like it rings forever when playing without the amp.  Very satisfying.

well, as I said before, you can't go wrong with most of the exotic wood choices.... most exotic wood is very very dense, which means that the tone should be plenty bright no matter what body it's attached to.

Thanks everyone. I am going exotic (that is known). want something not quite as bright as maple on maple.
Think I am waiting to get the body to see what it look like.

I don't blame you, I'd go for an exotic too...

I went with a chambered mahogoany VIP (with Gibson Burstbucker Pro's) and put a White Korina/Rosewood neck on it and it is definitely not bright, but has a perfect punch to it.  You'll be very happy with it, especially if you like that blues/rock sound.

No need for new thread. Here are some pics. There were changing light conditions that causes the flame to standout differently. The most true color is the pic with the blue background.
The W did well on this one  :headbang:
Hats off to them. Now trying to not go into the Axe-FX fund to get this thing completed.
