anybody have/tried a U contour neck?

how is it different from a C contour? does a U have more shoulder than a C? is it flatter (in the center at the back) than a C?

anybody have  a C neck from usacg? i always have trouble finding a grip (at the palm for bends/vibratto) in their C profile. i think it is because usacg's C lacks shoulder?

likewise anybody tried a U neck from usacg? is it flatter than their C but has more shoulder?

i find warmoth's thin C, to be a nice handful. but even thicker profile necks from usacg or musikraft, i don't find them filling the hand like a warmoth.

appreciate any insights.

If you have big hands, get a fatback. I don't think I'll be going back... :laughing7:

That contour has grown on me.  I was Standard Thin guy and went to '59 Roundback because it's gateway big.  The Fatback, didn't like because lack of taper; first fret as thick as high frets.  I played my guitar players Fatback the other day for the first time in a long time.  Not bad.

The fatback 's lack of taper feels odd at first. Now I don't even notice. Perhaps a teeny bit of falloff might feel better, but I like the profile. And yeah, my old favorite has an ESP U I believe

My opinion: U=old tele, C=newer strat

I agree with taper being over-rated... but to each thier own.

the usacg C similar to esp U?

now you have totally confused me :-)

What are you confused about?  The C looks and feels very similar to the U. ESP calls it a "U", while Fender, Warmoth, and USACG call it a "C".
