Here is one that needs saving after somebody else did some crazy stuff to it. The ideas for this one is to do the entire body Shoreline Gold (I know it’s not a Gibson color but it’s what has been requested.), paint the back of the headstock with a stinger and leave the rest of the neck in the original finish.
The worst damage is to the upper bout where the wood was over sanded so it changed the profile of the guitar. Here is what I’m starting with.
I decided to use Bondo to get the profile back to its original shape. Here it is with the Bondo ready for black lacquer as a primer coat.
The Stinger has been taped off and ready to shoot.
The back has been filled with paste wood filler.
Here it is with the first coat of black lacquer. There is still a lot of work to get it ready for the Shoreline Gold but this is a great start.
