Trem cavity advice

I've got a Gotoh 510TS fe1 installed in my Warmoth body - which was routed for a 510.  But when I depress the whammy bar, the block hits the back of the cavity and stops prematurely.  Not sure what to do beyond taking a chisel to the back of the cavity and removing material.  Any advice?

It will stop as you describe and yes the only way if you want more range of motion is remove some material with a chisel or a router. Of course this will no doubt invalidate your warranty.

Got it.  I guess another option is to take the trem  block to a grinding wheel and taper it off a bit.

Yes that would be another option to adapt the block.

The 510T-FE1 for example has a tapered FST block for comparison, though it is unlikely due to the overall design of the steel block you have that it could be tapered to the same degree due to the string holes and position of where the tremolo springs fit.
