Toggle switch question

I'm gonna be modding a Thunderbird and wiring it for a master volume moving the master tone over and in the 3rd hole i wanna put a 2 position toggle switch because i hate the sound i get with 2 pickups running at once and wanna eliminate that option.  My question is can i use a basic 2 position on/on SPTD toggle switch and wire it so up is neck pickup and down is bridge pickup, or will it mess up my sound or just fail

It shouldn't mess with the sound. As far as up and down, that all depends on which direction you put the switch in. Good luck with this.
