Tobacco Burst Vintage Strat

New to the boards here,

I just bought my second Warmoth project last week and it arrived today.

A Showcase Tobacco Burst Vintage Strat body (front & back)
routed for 6 hole vintage tremolo

Already have purchased the pickguard (black), silver tremolo, jack plate and locking strap buttons.

Now I have to decide on pickups and all the neck options.

I want to play mainly blues and blues rock with this guitar so I'm up in the air on what to get right now.

Also with the vintage series Warmoth says that not all pickups will fit. Anyone have any idea what pickups WON'T work in a vintage strat body?

:rock-on:

Just as a reference I wanted to post pics of my other guitars. I have one other on the way as well (a DBZ Bare Bones Religion Preacher)

First guitar is a 1986 Ibanez RG-440

Second guitar is a custom Warmoth LPS.
Swamp Ash body in natural finish
Compound Mahogany radius neck with Ziricote fretboard and 6100 SS frets. (this was put together in 2006)
Dimarzio Breed bridge pickup, generic single coil in the middle, Dimarzio PAF Fred in the neck position.

Third guitar is a Tradtion strat copy with Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups.

Good candidate for a swiss cheese guitar....

I'm guessing that the shallower routes won't accomodate "stacked" pickups like the dimarzio area series or seymour duncan stk pickups. I'd say stick with more traditional single coil pups to be safe. Maybe a lindy fralin blues wound set.

Being new here, do I want to know what a swiss cheese guitar is? LOL

somebody posted a picture of an old roadstar with a ton of holes drilled in it and sections cut out. looked like swiss cheese! i'd post it here if i knew where to find it...

anyway, great collection and great new strat body! i've always been a fan of the roadstar's. might still grab one, it's amazing what they go for on ebay!

That makes sense. I was planning on sticking with traditional single coils anyways just hadn't decided on what brand or flavor. Those Lindy's look sweet and had a pretty good sound to them from what I heard. Just may have to look into those.

Right now for the neck thinking of sticking with Maple with Rosewood.

The roadstar's have some of the sweetest playing necks and for the price you can't beat it. Plus it never hurt that the pickups were rebadged Dimarzio's.

I've been eyeballing a few on ebay but one in particular I was looking at they wanted $399 without the case?! They're crazy.

Holy Cow!! That is the wildest thing I have ever seen, how heck did you accomplish that? LOL

Sometime G'n'R guitarist Ron Thal, aka Bumblefoot, started out with an idea to make his guitar look like a bite had been taken out of it.  It ended up looking like crap, so to cover for his mistake/make the best of an effed up situation, he drilled a bunch more holes and voila!  Swiss cheese!

That has got to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen. But at least it is unique. Someone will pay big bucks for that one day.

The swiss cheese guitar is rather ugly, but your right, someone probably will pay through the nose one day for that... :dontknow:

I'm not sure if will take me a year but it will be a while for sure. This is my second project. The first was the guitar I posted a picture of earlier. I made a few minor mistakes that aren't necessarily noticeable at first glance (IE: slightly misaligned tuner screw hole, backplate screw hole. ) but nothing huge.

All in all I am happy with it but looking forward to finishing my 2nd baby.
