Thoughts on a band set up?

Well basically ive been thinking lately an incredible amount of sometime trying to create a band for fun that comprises of Drums/Vocals/Rythmn Bass/Lead Bass.
Now the fact about how i intend for this to be interesting is that lead bass would be going through a pedal or two to get enough difference to the rythmn for them to not merge in together too much,
Basically its not a case of aiming to achieve guitar sound with a bass, i know thats impossible, but to see what i can make with a second bassist no guitarists, and how it would sound.
What do you guys think?
(Im just curious for peoples opinions, If people suggest dont do it, or its stupid etc, then cool thats your idea on it, but this idea isnt in the deciding stage it is something im gonna try just wanna know what you guys think )

P.S However if this idea works then i might try take it a bit more seriously if the guys i try it with want to aswell.
Plus no offence to the six string members of the forum, but id love this to work and keep pompus (not referring to you guys) six string players on there toes and fearing the bass for what it deserves Aka Respect.

Ah sweet, well fiddled with my bass overdrive pedal on my warmoth and it gets a nice sound that is a far cry from it without it,
So think lead would have some manner of pedals,
Cheers for the video, makes me even more confident long as i find the right guys to try it with!

Maybe you can find an octave pedal for the lead bass that sends it up an octave or two.

Cheers for that ndl, but one question looking around all the pedals seem to talk about sending it down an octave or two, not up, well one said about up an octave, but its definately needing to send it up an octave for a bass not down an octave?
im guessing it is up as thats basically the same as playing the open e then e at the 12th fret thats the octave isnt it? im  a bit rusty on the theory,
Cause as far as investing a bit of money in the right pedal any suggestions would be appreciated.

Who's going to show the bass players what to play if there is no guitarist in the band?? :laughing7: :guitarplayer2:

I love bands that just have bass and drums!!  It's a great format that leads itself to rocking stuff where the vocalist can actually be heard.

Here's some of my favorite bass/drums bands:

Yeah that's an octave. It's the same not a scale higher, or 12 chromatic notes (12 frets.) For pedals you'll probably need some kind of fuzz octave pedal. There was a jimi hendrix one that's been discontinued for guitar that you might be able to find... and i've heard the malekko bassmaster is decent for a similar effect on bass. but i'm not sure if you'll find anything that sends the signal up an octave cleanly or even very effectively to be honest.

Something like a Fender Bass VI might be a cool idea

Hmm thats true, but however i know its a bass with smaller strings and such, but might take away from the whole, there are no electrics in this band thing,
hence why i dont think ill get a six string normal bass either, might be better and get more out of it than a four or five, but still get a feeling id be branded a cheat or something,
I know some sour people
however does warmoth do bass VI? or were the bodies made as just a one off?
as me is thinking maybe do a warmoth one if i ever needed

Yeah they have a range of bass VI bodies and necks in stock at the moment, But you have to call to order, but as i dont have the money for another bass at the moment, its not a problem for me at the moment,
Plus when i have the money i have to decide on a five string Les Paul,  Ice man, G5, or a bass VI, but that would depend if i did this idea, but even then i know its a mix of bass and a electric, but its the mixture i dont think would work,
i mean it would work for what im wanting to achieve.
But... if i built a bass VI id buy these too as i like them the best  :headbang: :o

Death From Above 1979 (drum/bass band with a silly name) has some cool lead bass riffs and tones. Couldn't find a live video for this song, sorry.

Oh cool, hmmm this idea isnt as new as i thought it was, oh well, might settle on guitar bass drums vocals and just make the guitarist do rythmn guitar/bass at times lol
