The nut on Phil Lesh's new bass is actually made out of that stuff  (Actually I think it's wooly mammoth :laughing11

I believe it. My roommate has a couple knives with handles made of that, and it's some interesting material. When you get right down to it, it's really cow bone, right? It's just very old and petrified. So, it should be good for it. Wears better and looks more interesting. A bit expensive to make nuts out of, though.
