This just in: tonewood makes absolutely no difference on an acoustic guitar.

Friend of mine just bought a Martin with mahogany back and sides and maple top.  That thing just sings.  I choose to believe that it makes more of a difference on acoustic guitars than electric ones.

Should have done the test on the top wood, the part that's actually designed specifically to resonate <facepalm>
