Thinline Pickup Routing

Maybe a dumb question, but is the pickup routing in a Thinline shallower than in a Tele?
I am trying to fit a stacked bridge pickup in my thinline, which is about 8 mm taller than a regular tele pickup. (25mm vs. 17mm)

The problem is that the bottom of the pickup already hits the bottom of the cavity while the top is sticking out way to high (higher than the sides of the bridge plate)

what would be a cheap solution? I don't want to shim the neck, because it looks really silly with the saddles so high. the other options I can think of is either get a router (I don't know anyone with a router) or buy new pickups. I am trying to avoid single pickups, since a thinline is so hard to shield.

suggestions are welcome ! :)

forgot to mention, I already cut down the pickup screws as far as possible.

You could deepen the hole with a dremel, which if you don't own one is very worth having. You'll find uses for it you never though about before. Also, a lot of the stacked pickups need to be closer to the strings than a normal SC, and in fact have less magnet pull. Yours sounds very tall and high, though. Dremel time!

so does anybody have any good tips on how to route the cavity deeper?

I am kind of scared to do it freehand, and afraid to go through the back side of the body.. :o :tard:

Something sounds wrong here - I used a stacked pick-up in a thinline with no problems - which pickup are you using - anyway you could post some pictures illustrating your problem?

I wouldn't start grinding yet.

It is a IronGear Steel Twins:

I am at work, so I can't post a picture of the actual guitar right now.
