So you're the one who got that! Well played. I thought somebody bought it a couple/few weeks back, because I lost track of it. Like you, I was losing sleep over the thing. Didn't have a project in mind, so I kept putting it off until one day it was gone and the decision was made for me <grin>

What are your plans for it?

Sorry for stealing that from you man. I hope you find another one that you like. There are plenty of great necks in the showcase! I'm going to put this neck on a strat hardtail made of black Korina and painted alpine white. It's being made from scratch so it'll be a long while before this build gets off the ground. Pics to come

No worries. Plenty of beauties on there, as you say, and I'm sure that won't be the last all-ebony they make, either. Plus, like I said, I didn't have a solid plan. I just like the idea of an all-ebony neck. But, the plan you have sounds good, although I don't know if I'd paint the korina white. Nothing against white, but ebony against a korina body would be outstanding. Although, the more I think about it against white it'll look pretty sharp, too. Either way, I'll look forward to seeing it.

Congrats.  I looked at that neck and almost pulled the trigger on it a while ago, but held out for the one that should be delivered this week.

congrats!!! I have been looking at that too... no project and no money for it though...

This is it for now, more "out of the box" and "in progress" posts to come, until it finds its home in the strat section and warmoth gallery :glasses9:

Ditto for me, this time Council Rates and Home Contenets Insurance have put a sizeable dent into budget.

I am always curious about how people make decisions about wood and finishes.  Since black Korina is a nice grainy wood, how/why did you decide to paint it as opposed to ash, alder, basswood or polar which often can only be painted?

The tonal qualities of BK are amazing, so I feel like thats a big factor. Maybe he just has to have a white guitar. I wouldnt do anything but oil that sucker, but to each his own :icon_thumright:

I remeber a Alpine white guitar black korina guitar with natural binding and it was soooo awesome that you could just barely see the grain. Im pretty sure it was Mullymans? maybe?

smjenkins entered a pretty cool Mary Kay strat on what looks like zebrawood in the August GOTM contest that is an interesting compromise between grain and paint.
