Very nice ,Mike.  Looks to me like your carving skills are getting stronger.  Nice lines you've settled on for this job.


It does look like polishing compound or sanding dust has built up in some of the recesses - is that just a trick of the light, or is this still in-progress and will be cleaned up later?

There's no dust or anything inside the topcoat. There was probably definitely some shop dust on this when I took the pics. Down in those recesses the wood isn't totally smooth, so all those little tiny imperfections are exaggerated by a camera. Doesn't look that way in person. I have an old Gibson LP, and the checking lacquer paint job looks amazing in person, but with my photography skills, it looks like a mess. I suspect the same thing is going on here to an extent.
