I've never been a fan of Slayer, I'm not much into thrash or most metal in general, but I can appreciate when a giant has fallen.  I hope he's still shredding whatever he's up to.  Far too young.  :sad1:

Wow. Necrotizing fasciitis and eventual liver failure? That's too bad. What a miserable way to go.

My grandfather on my father's side died of that. Terrorized the kids still living at home (my dad and a couple of his brothers) because back in those days there was nothing they could do. So, he got installed in an upstairs bedroom where he literally just rotted to death, making the house smell like two days after somebody forgot to take out the garbage after a big chicken dinner, screaming in pain the entire time. Hard to even imagine.

I'm not looking forward to dying, but I'm not afraid of it. Situation like that, I hope I know early so I can head to the woods with my trusty short-barrel shotgun.

Very sad.  Another reason to kill all spiders.
Exactly, can't stand the little critters..I've always thought they came from outer space, not natural to have 8 eyes and legs.

The reports said he had gotten over the Necrotizing fasciitis, had done several skin grafts, and was doing physical therapy.  However, I do know that for several diseases, and higher order microbes, the treatment is with drugs that are like playing chicken.  The gamble is they'll die off before you do.  The part of the treatment that is not really spoken too much about is your liver processes most of the substances, treatments and painkillers, and they can be quite rough on it.  Tylenol is pretty rough on the liver for goodness sake.  It is a shame he had to go through all of that, and pass away at such an early age.  With respect to the band, he wrote a lot of their bigger songs.  RIP Mr. Hanneman
