I learned this one a while back. I figured I'd throw it up on YouTube, and let some other people see it. It's a super fun song to play, but learning it was definitely a test of patience...picking the details out by ear can get dicey pretty quickly...

"The Real Me" - The Who

I used my Warmoth Jaguar bass for this one. I just used the P-pickup soloed.

I (and my Warmoth) made the front page of NoTreble!

Nice job!!  Congrats.  John was one of the best.  I real innovator.

I love that song.  Ever hear the version by WASP?  Killer..nailed the bass too.  I am not a huge fan but they did a good job.

Awesome job, Joseph.  Sounds great, and it's great that you got the recognition as well.

I'm a huge Who fan and have had Quadraphenia since it was on vinyl. Really good job on the cover!

I must confess that this was the first time I'd heard that song. Loved it! Really nice playing and great tone.  :icon_thumright:

I'm surprised I didn't say anything before, but Good Job!

I remembered it and played it for my brother, who was also very impressed. He's a huge Who fan, too. Mr. Entwistle knew how to fill things in to make it all interesting. Lotsa counterpoint and octave jumping.

Dude... that was KILLER! I've always liked your bass, ever since I saw it when first posting here. Congrats on getting on NoTreble! Very cool. John is my second favorite bass player, and you did him justice with this. Your tone was delicious, by the way.

oh wow, thank you all! I came back to the site after a few days to find all this. thank you! I had a thought today...I think I'm gonna go ahead and learn all of Quadrophenia little by little, and put it up one video at a time. I mean, why not? I love the album, and I think I'm up to the challenge. it should be neat...we'll see how it goes, though.

i would love to see it.  Crank it up!!!

You won't have to twist my arm to hear some more covers of tunes from Quadrophenia.

The song 5:15 is a good song for the bass line.

I hope the Who fans are still following this thread because I just happened to come across this tonight. It's a special screening of a documentary about Quadrophenia:

List of theaters: (in the USA) http://www.fathomevents.com/upcoming/alllocations.aspx?eventid=1099

I know I'm late to the party, but very well done!

I'd love to hear you bang out some Yes with that thing.  Yours is No Disgrace or the like!

Cheers

Just came across this. Awesome job. That song IS the bass and a great one to learn and feature your playing.
