Well, this is that one, mocked up and with a closer shot of the body. Nice dust speck on the left. Man, my camera sucks, this looks so much better in person.
Hope this doesn't get pulled.

Very nice!! love the top, great stain too (or is it dye:?)
I am sure they won't pull it, there are still some of the not to be mentioned guitars in the misc section.. I think

It is dyed 2 colors, my attempt at a tiger eye finish.

I'll take more (better) pictures when it's completed, hopefully tomorrow.

I know the feeling, I'm still waiting on mine to come back from the shop so I can take some decent shots.

Sweet looking build so far!

Nice VW there, you get it off Ebay, or have you had it lying around waiting to be put together...? :icon_scratch:

EVH  is an idiot, I'm sure he's the reason that was pulled.

Ken should set up a meeting with him, and build him a guitar

Warmoth + EVH = $$$$$$$

More likely Peavey or Ernie Ball.  From other posts I've read, Ernie Ball is very copyright protective.

I would tend to belive that Super Turbo ismore on the right track. I'm sure Ed could give two shites whether or not someone was copying that particular guitar. EB on the other hand stills sells that body so they would have more of a grievance. And to add to the sitchu, the only thing better about the EB EVH(Axis) guitar vs. the Warmoth VW is the neck joint on the EB EVH. And Warmoth could remedy that problem, if they still made that body...

I bought it during the flameout of the VW style. I paid $139 for it, not bad.

Awesome dye / stain job! Not sure about mismatched bobbins though...

Thanks for the compliment. I'll be getting chrome covers for the pups, at least that's what I'm planning.

What dyes did you use?  It looks really good the way it is, but I was curious to your approach to recreate it.  I have been working on the fire burst, but it is a bit tricky as well...  Still, I like the looks of it.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear he already plays one...
EVH lies more about his gear then most 14 year old guys lie about how much boob they get.

Oh, also very nice looking!

I find this scenario a tad annoying...
* Warmoth, it seems, were requested by EB to stop making the VW body in EB's right to claim copyright of the design.
* Another company, and a smaller competitor to Warmoth, still offers basically the same body design.

If it is so that EB wants to stop others copying their designs, fine, but for the sake of consistency and fairness to all in the industry, make it across the board and pursue all copiers. :dontknow:

I strongly doubt that the other company has brokered a licence deal with EB, and I suspect the only reason they haven't been hit with the same as what Warmoth got, is that they are smaller and not making inroads into possible sales.

I don't expect anyone from Warmoth to comment, of course. I'm just expressing my distaste at this practice of leaning on one company by the copyright owner, while another company doing the same thing is allowed to continue as if nothing has happened.

I started with black RIT dye-the fabric stuff, one pass then sanded back. I then used a mix of vintage maple and a touch of yellow, one pass, no sanding. One more pass of the black, sanded lightly and started finishing.

I had to NOT GIVE Ernie Ball $1700 for a Petrucci seven-string and build a Warmoth one instead. I went on their forum and was asking what I thought were fairly innocent questions about the string spacing - like, "how far are the strings from the edge of the fretboard, they look kinda close?" Ernie Ball kept killing my posts cause
VEE VILL TOLERATE NO DISSENT!!!

Jawohl, Mein Kapitan!

I figure if you can't even ask a friggin' question before you buy it, maybe my money felt like expressing itself elsewhere... :cool01:

Yes, If I am not mistaken, both Eddie and Michael Anthony were on the list of famous Warmoth Users that Gregg posted on the old forum.
