Hay y'all.

Just did my first post in the "Builds in progress"  This will be my first build and I'm wanting to do a hardtail Strat.

The question for you good people is, Who makes "the best" Hardtail for a Strat?
I'm open to all opinions on this one. Just one little thing....It has to be GOLD.

Cheers and Many thanks.

I really wanted to try the hipshot..
I didn't buy it since it was a bit unclear at the time if they would fit any of the available warmoth routings

Superbeast had one on his strat, and he was really happy about it!

I have on my hardtail Warmoth Strat, a bridge from Callaham parts.  It is heavy (in a good way), well engineered and the finish is excellent!

Whatever bridge you use, don't go for the cast, block-type saddles (as found on the Am. Std. Strat trem).

Do the old-school stamped, bent saddles (as found on the vintage 6 holers).

Your ears will thank you.    :icon_biggrin:

EDIT:  oh crap - it's gotta be gold... don't think anyone does old-style saddles in gold... but someone out there might.

Never could compare, what's the difference on sound?

It's the Hipshot and Callaham in the race to finish first. :blob7: Both sites have them reading very well. The Callaham seems to have great quality and a bit of that vintage thing. The
Hipshot is new and cool (to me)...Hell I'm a newbie. I'll talk to Erlewine guitars in Austin and see how my vote can be swayed. Either way I will start to pick up the gold hardware this week. :rock-on:

To my ear (and others I've discussed this with), those cast block ones put a thin, pingy hi-end tone on the strings.

I'm of the opinion that the Am Std Strat trem is pretty much @$$.

That's why, for my Parts-O-caster (that other purple one - Am Std Strat body I recently mentioned about - in the works), I gave it the full Callaham treatment (block, saddles and arm).

Only thing C. doesn't sell for 2-hole Am Std trem is the plate.

Great point. Callaham looks to have some excellent build quality though. So the Hipshot will get the bid on this build. The Gotoh for the $$ looks like an option also but the Hipshot just looks new, cool and GOLD. :headbang1:
