Telecaster Jack in Control Plate.

I'm putting together a tele project and considering putting the output jack in the control plate. I would use a 3 hole control plate like the ones seen here https://rockrabbitguitars.com/shop/triple-telecaster-control-plate/ .
Is there any reason not to do this?

Never thought about doing that.  Might have a problem when sticking in your jack but you’ll never know for sure till you try.  The worst that will happen is you’ll have extra parts.  Where will you put the kill switch?

It would not really be much different to other models that have vol, tone and output on a control plate.

The kill switch is going to be one of these right now. https://shadowelectronics.com/products/sh-124

You may find that the jack on the plate gets in your way. Plus it will stick out straight like an SG. But it's your guit!

I don't think the normal screws holding the control plate are sufficient to withstand regular un-plugging of the lead.

While the Shadow killpot does what it’s supposed to, it has a tendency to break pretty easily. I have several and used them in two guitars and they have all failed eventually.

So if you want the killswitch functionality in your guitar I would use an ordinary killswitch and have the output jack at the side as usual instead.

This is an excellent point. I have a tele and the two small screws holding the control plate down are going to strip out pretty quickly with a jack. Your eventually going to rip out the plate unplugging one day.

They are the same size screws that hold in a Strat jack plate. My issues is you would need right angle plugs or eventually the jack will get in the way and, if hit, torque the jack plate.

Well you sir are correct! But, the forces inposed on the Strat style jack are different. Think about it. :sign13:

What about the Jaguar? It has a top mounted jack on a plate.

I would say, I would not do it due to access issues.
