Tele/Strat Wiring.

Just got a maple La Cabronita Tele (and all maple baritone neck), EMG strat; neck, middle, and bridge. Single master tone and 5 way switch, how do I wire it. I know I've made a boo-boo, but I could use some advise for wiring it, in Australia, by the way, thank you all. :)

Here's a diagram for a Strat with 3 pickups, a 5 way switch, 1 volume and 1 tone. If you don't want a volume control, simply eliminate the volume pot and tie the hot wire that comes from the switch and goes to the vol/tone both and run that directly to the output jack's "tip" connection.

If you don't like wiring diagrams, this is what it should look schematically:

If you want a volume knob, it's drawn below but would be placed after the tone control.

All shields/bare wires must be grounded.

You've got a bunch of spelling errors in there! "Swith," "sheild," a backwards Mu symbol, and a lowercase f for Farads.  :icon_jokercolor: :icon_jokercolor:

That's correct, however, but most people that have to ask for wiring help don't understand the schematic notation and want diagrams. I'll draw that in diagram form if the OP wants it.

What can I say? I'm an idiot. Stick around, and I'll prove it  :laughing7:

Thanks guys, major help Cagey! I'm 15, I'm a bass player, bought a Baritone to step into guitar territory, I just wanted to know how to wire it with a switch, and no tone or individual volumes.  :icon_biggrin:

Keep in mind that the input impedance for the pickups will be higher with no volume pot in the circuit. Some players like this, and some find it to be too bright with whatever pickup winding they have. You might consider adding a fixed resistor parallel to the jack to simulate the usual load of a volume pot. 220k, and 470k or 510k are common values for resistors, and comparable to 250k and 500k pots, respectively.

I'm just having the master volume and LP style 5 way switch, like a (Warmoth, 5 way mini switch.) When money warrants it.
I'm only 15 by the way. Part time work.

LPs (and other 2 pickup guitars) typically have a 3 position toggle switch.

Strats (and other 3 pickup configurations ) typically have a 5 position blade switch.

I'm aware that I should use a 5 way but I plan to use a single coil sized 'bucker, and warm jazzier pickups for the neck and bridge. If I can find a LP style 5 way switch, I'd go with that.  :laughing7:

Life saver man! Cheers!

Also, would a rotary switch work? c:

Rotary switches work fine. One pole is required for each input source.

So I need a 3 pole. So a 4 pole shall work, right? ^_^

Yes. The fourth pole will not be used.
