Tele neck routing

All right, I give up.

I will preface this by saying I am talking about a rear-routed body using pickup rings.

I know I have seen pictures of it before, and I have looked and looked, but does anyone have a picture of a tele neck pickup rout re-routed to...

A standard strat single coil...

A humbucker...

For some reason as I remember the standard strat single coil works out fine, but the humbucker doesnt work because the upper two locations for the screws on the pickup ring get messed up.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

This one demonstrates how it really depends on the tele pickup rout you're enlarging... this non-Warmoth body did NOT leave enough wood for all four pickup ring screws to bite into:

While this Warmoth body DID leave enough:

Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking about. I suppose I should just give them a call tomorrow.

The ring covers the hole, but just barely.  A really long screw might do it, but it wouldn't really be a solid fit in any case.

I have a Warmoth Tele originally routed for a neck position humbucker.  I later retrofitted a Strat pickup in the neck position and required extra routing.

There's several picks on the first page.  Here's the thread:

Not sure I'm following you.

This was a showcase body, with a tele route.

Re-routed for humbuckers, with a tele neck route.

I didn't have to do anything special to fit pickup ring.  :dontknow:

Hope this helps.
