Try and talk them into it over the phone.  Keep the body the same, change the neck pocket and move the bridge forward.  Not for me, but I'd love to see this!

I think, in fairness to Warmoth, they have to scale down the body size to replicate the same balance  ( a 7/8th scale down?)  -which might be why they said no to modifying a full size body.

Ugh!  They seem to be very selective on what they will and won't do with custom stuff.  They have (2) 7 string bodies, yet there are several 6 string bodies they have made 7 strings out of, which not unlike a short scale bass on a full scale body, require a different neck pocket and bridge relocation in respect to scale.  They also, or atleast used to, advertise they will do custom bodies with a steep starting price.

I think these two tales are not linked.......It appears you can still ask Warmoth if they could do you a custom body (see website link below), but I think they want a full size drawing to start off with and yes, it would cost a bomb. So there wouldn't be an issue of making a short scale Tele Bass body - totally custom -if you could take a tracing of a full sized one and scale it down, send a drawing to Warmoth and hold your breath for the quote! But if you asked them to modify a production body shape they won't accomodate it.  :dontknow:  :icon_scratch:
