My back is getting old.... can't handle standing up with a Les Paul for 1hr sets.  Looking for an alternative.
Considering the strong bottom and top end of Swamp Ash and the punchy mids of Mahogany I was thinking this would make a balanced combination.  anyone tried it?  can't find any info on this combination

Thanks!

Chambered swamp ash body , mahogany neck , ebony fretboard .. oh yeah .. very nice combo
and easy on the back.  The chanbering will take the weight out , and depending on who you listen to opens up the sound .  ( It works in my 14 yrs  experience , and Roger Sadowsky and others agree)

I 'm just finishing a similar build except I used a maple/ebony neck

I hear ya on the LP , my '79 Custom weighs a ton , still love it after 33 years of playing but prefer lighter bodies these days .  ( mostly my Gretsch  6122-59  and an ES -339)

The tops Warmoth put on are 1/8" thick. You're not going to notice anything changing from Swamp Ash tone with that stuck on top, although it'll look the part. You might be better with a chambered Mahogany body.

If you're thinking of getting an LP body be aware that this option is no longer open to you.

To be honest, body wood makes little difference to sound in the overall scheme of things. Focus on pickups, scale length and neck wood, in that order, if you want to get an LP sound from a lighter guitar. A Tele or VIP body with a rosewood-on-mahogany 24 3/4" conversion neck and a couple of humbuckers will get you there, short of a couple of EQ adjustments.
