SInce the Gotoh 206 has been discontinued, there's not a reasonable string-thru replacement yet. The Hipshot single string bridge simply isn't a realistic replacement if one is wanting a more traditional bridge that is string-thru, grounding it not withstanding.
One criticism of the string-thru is that the tonal differences between the top load and string-thru are neglible, so just do a top load, like the Gotoh 201. That's a different discussion.
You guys are a aware of it, and I've been told you are looking for a replacement.
Since Warmoth is liscensed to reproduce Fender bodies, why can't Fender routes be done? The newer 3-bolt, string-thru American Standard route possibly? The customer can outsource many replacement bridges for this route. There are those available from Fender, as well as, the new Leo Quan Bad Ass III. I also believe the new Fender route is the same as the original '51 P-Bass route.
Also, the options for bass necks aren't up to par with the guitar side. Binding an inlay options are limited to the showcase, whereas guitar neck binding and inlay is made to order. What happened to the compound radius on bass necks?
Rather than a request for something new, I'm requesting a return to options that used to be offered on basses. Both the bridge and inlay options were almost deal breakers for me. I postponed ordering for awhile. In the end, I got exactly what I ordered, but had to settle on a few options.
Thanks for listening guys. You guys do great work!
