I have a question; What is the "preferred" method of installing strat p-ups into the p-up route on a rear-routed, no-pickguard body...What are the 'best' mounting/adjustment screws? Appreciate your help. Greg
Here's what I used :headbang:

Which is Strat pups Neck and Middle.
Also used on a mates build and will use again.
They went though the SD pup mount holes (without drilling) on the SD pups I used :icon_thumright:
I hand-drilled and installed two threaded inserts and used machine screws. People will tell you that you must use a drill press, but with a good and steady hand (or a crapton of dumb luck), you can get 'em in there nice and straight.
I just placed the pickup into the cavity, marked the holes, centerpunched, drilled, and started tapping. I worked my way up in bits to be certain not to overshoot the hole diameter. Oh- and there isn't any real wiggle room for the pickup within the route, so even if you don't have the pickup 100% centered, the pole pieces will still line up with no visible evidence of a crooked pickup.
I used high density foam along with the tubing and it's sitting nice, tight, and straight. I did have to ream the pickup holes slightly to accommodate the larger machine screw diameter.
I used tubing on around the screws. AND foam that came with pickups, underneath pickup to make it level. Its trial n error. Improvise, jus don't use paper...
