Hello people!
I know that the strat headstock was inspired on the bigsby headstock and the strat body came from the precision bass, but I was thinking if it was inspired on another guitar or was completely new by Leo....
Did a little search on this and couldn't find anything about. Does anybody has info about?

I always imagined it (head stock) was a take on the scrolled form of a violin head stock.  See: Stradivarius.

Maybe the name is a bit of a hat's tip, as well: Stradivarius > Stratocaster...just a hunch.

Here's my take on the names.

Broadcaster (which is obvious) , became Telecaster. Like Telephone which means far sound, a Telecaster would cast the sound a far way. Whereas strato would be related to stratosphere.

If you look at the COMPLETE history of guitar, that basic curvy peghead shape was around in the 1500's. It's not new, it's just a variation on the theme. Seen any early Martins from the New York plant era?

I think King David's rig is in there somewhere  :laughing7:

Yes, I know this headstock, it's the Stauffer head, because of the guy which Martin worked in Europe.
The name really came from stratosphere, can't remember the name of the guy who named it...

Variations on a theme...
