Strat 5 way switch rout

Hi all.
I ordered a Showcase rear routed Strat body.  At the time I wasn't sure how I wanted to wire it up so I decided to hold off on getting any of the controls routed.  A decision I regret now.  I'm looking for any advise on the best/easiest method for routing the slot for the 5-way switch.  Whats the best tool and are there any templates available or this?

Do the slot with one of these and some files.

Use a drill press for the mounting screw holes, and then a handheld router with a template bit for the recess.
