i am still planning my warmoth and i began to wonder: where am i going to put the strap buttons? my squier's back strap button becomes loose easily because the screw wore through the wood. do any of you guys know of any spots to put them to avoid this? thanks in advance  :help:

you wont have the problem with good wood

and you can fix the squire with a little bit of wood glue and a few toothpicks shoved in the hole.... letting it dry before ya screw the screw back in

Not sure what wood your Squier is made out of but most tail strap buttons are perfectly positioned and secure.  It also prevents the paint work from scratching if you stand it leaning against an amp.

You can always go the Tom Anderson way by putting in two tail strap buttons with each about a few inches away from the dead center left and right.

Also using Strap-Lok may help since the mounting screw is larger in diameter and longer.  Always insert wooden dowels inside the existing hole to prevent it from getting any bigger.

The squier is made of pine, and it was originally secure, just over time it became extremely loose.

Pine is a pretty soft wood so no wonder why it wore through easily. Shouldn't happen with any of the wood that Warmoth offers though.

Try what =CB= has suggested by using toothpicks as dowels to fill up the hole.  Pine, probably not American species, may be quite soft and lower in density as far as interlocking wood fibers are concerned.

You sure your squier is made of pine? I've never heard of a pine squier. I think they are usually made of either agathis or a weird super soft plywood stuff. At least mine was.

Not even basswood?   :icon_jokercolor:

Nope, or at least I've never had any strap issues with my basswood made Ibanez :icon_thumright:
