Strap Buttons on Warmoth V

I am lovin' my recently finished V, however, I quickly realized this is not an easy geetar to play in the sitting position.  It just slides right down your leg.
I have got to get some strap buttons on this thing so I can play it in comfort, but I am confused about the strap button locations on a V.

I have seen the following locations on various V's online:
The fin button on the underside of the top fin a couple inches from the tip.
The fin button on the underside of the top fin a couple inches from the crotch.

The other button on the back side of the geetar 1/2 inch below the lower right hand neck plate screw.
The other button using the same screw used for the upper right hand neck plate screw.  [ I don't want to cover up Doug's neckwear]
The other button on the heel of the neck.  [ Not too crazy about drilling a hole in my neck]

I have read a lot of comments from folks about neck diving on V's related to supposed strap button placement.
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding strap button placement on a V :icon_scratch: ??? :icon_scratch:
Thanks for your time &  :rock-on:

I could be wrong here  :tard:, but placing a button closer to the crotch of a V body will
balance out a guitar if it's neck heavy. Place it close to the tip of the upper wing
if it's NOT neck heavy. This is what I did on mine.  :laughing7:

Hey T50,

Thanks for the info.  Where did you place your other button  :icon_scratch:
I just want to be certain about placement because I am not too wild about drilling a bunch of holes in Valentina.
I have never seen any pics of your V on the forum.  Ya got any?

I've never owned a Vee, so I'm no help, buuuuut the many many times I've played one in a store, when I'm sitting, I actually place the upper fin over my right thigh, and the lower one under it.  I guess that puts my leg smack dab in what you so eloquently called the "crotch".  It ain't pretty, but I played many a Vee in a sitting position.

Yea, I have tried that as well.  It is actually a comfortable way of holding the guitar.
However, this position really makes you stretch that left arm.  Since I have rather short arms, this makes it rather challenging.
Maybe after I get more comfortable playing my Vee, this will become easier.
In the mean time...

No, I don't have a V. I have a Star body.
I put the other button on the neck plate. Didn't want to mount it the body.

SUPER CORRECT-O!

I'm a V player myself. My main live guitar is a V.
On mine, I put the rear pin about halfway down the upper wing. That placement keeps it nice and "thnug" against my body.

For the forward pin, I would NOT put it in the neck itself. I'd be worried about damage to it. Keep in mind, the closer it is towards the rear pin, the more neck heavy it will become. I would use the upper right hand neck plate screw. That position should offer the best balance. It'll only cover the neck plate a little, and only when playing.

Thanks MUYFUE  :headbang1:
I am happy to get some input from a V player.
Yea, I was not going to do that neck location.  I also would be concerned with damage to the neck.
I will give your recommendation a try this weekend.

Hey MUYFUE,

I just installed the strap buttons according to your recommendations.
I placed the rear pin 71/4 inches from the tip of the upper wing [roughtly 1/3 of the toal length of the upper wing from the crotch].  The front pin is on the upper right hand screw of the neck plate.
Man, it is balanced perfectly and an ease to play.  I was really bummin' because I thought this was going to be a really uncomfortable playing axe.
I am lovin' it.
Thanks for the tip  :occasion14:
