At any given time, if one were to walk into the factory, I'm curious to know how many people actually work at Warmoth?

My guess is around 20 people?

Not a lot of people know that Warmoth's factory is actually Santa's workshop so they have thousands of elves working for them.

Yeah they put all the hardcore elves at the guitar factory.

It wouldn't be polite to walk in, as Warmoth is closed to the public, but it's right around 50 employees in an 8000 square foot shop, including office space, it's very tightly cramped as every ounce of space is utilized.

Yes I forgot to say that Warmoth also houses Willy Wonka's factory. Don't believe what TonyFlyingSquirrel says, he just doesn't want people to know the truth. We should make a Wikileaks article about it :laughing7:.

This is not advisable, in fact it's very dangerous. Without the proper eye protection, all the guitar porn would cause permanant and excruciating GAS.

Being a former employee, in all seriousness, just dropping by is not adviseable.
Warmoth is not insured for public access.  Doing so would increase the liability insurance driving up the prices drastically. Not to mention the manpower in having a member of the staff escort people through, now there's an employee taken out of the loop whom otherwise could be on the phone/email/fax servicing customers worldwide with no translation capabilities on an already understaffed high paced production manufacturing facility.

As glamorous as it may seem on the outside, it is a very serious work environment, stuffing 50+ employees, into an 8000 square foot manufacturing facility.  That 8000 square feet goes quickly when you consider that wood storage, all the machinery and ready for purchase product is stored there as well.  Subtract from that about 1800 square feet of office space and it packs everyone in even tighter.
Consider it a "high Tech Barn" and let everyone do their job, respectfully.

so it is that tight and they get willy wonka in there? wow I got to go visit this place and see for myself. :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

Maybe Warmoth could do a 3-5 minute video for all the curious types.

Since you're a former employee, that's what they told you when they flashed you with the flashy thingy like in MIB.  It's really a wonderland of guitar porn (and chocolate) that they only share snippets of to keep us in suspense and desiring more.

I didn't really want to drop by until Tony said I shouldn't

yeah me neither, but sorry Tony, you make it sound way too exciting... I think I am going to jump in my car and drive north later today!

50 people?  Do some of them carpool?  There don't seem to be that many cars in the lot.  15 years ago when I toured the place, there were more like 20.  Also, when it used to be sorta ok to go buy your stuff at that ghetto little counter, everyone was always very nervous and moving quickly.  These elves are in fear for their lives, kids.

I hate this thread.  It ruined my vision of what the place is like.  My visions of exotic woods lined up alongside pickup and whammy bar assortments has been dashed.  Its not candy shop.  Its a normal, serious, business minded workplace.  I will now go cry.

At least the elves part is real, right :sad1:??

50 folks in 8000 square feet....

You realize that's as good as Gibson did, in the early 80s?

The one millshop I worked in was 125x225 feet (three bays 75 wide), whats that about 26000 sqft or so.  Hehehe we had three fork lifts in there just moving projects around.

Seriously... its amazing.  And people dont realize that the workers are part of the overall machine of a factory.

I've known for sometime there were a bunch of people cramped in a small building.  I also think they probably have a low turnover in employees and that they are a tight knit group with a real family atmosphere.

I bet the company x-mas party is a blast.

You gotta go to the website and take the tour of the entire shop, it's amazing  http://www.warmoth.com/Ordering/ShopTour.aspx

They've done at least one tour I know of.  I'm not going to mention any names, but it was invitation only and his user name rhymes with Chubby Chins.

Okay, okay, no tours for space and insurance liabilty, but how about a plexiglass wall?  lol
