Spammers

Sure has stepped up the last couple of days. The bewildering thing is that they wouldn't bother doing this stuff unless it worked. Who sees these posts and says, "Oh yeah, I'm gonna click on that for SURE!"

It works occasionally. You and I might know that a small forum like this one may be low reward, but I doubt they know or care, they're just looking for easy marks to get their numbers in. Probably so their family doesn't get beat up. The problem for people like us  is that efforts to crank up the difficulty for spammers also frustrate legitimate users.

Where exactly have you been seeing them, and why are you not reporting them? If you report them when you see it, we can take care of it... :toothy11:

Just came across 3 more. Could only report the first one because UW stops you if you've reported one in the recent past. Tells you to try again later, seems counterproductive to me....

I also report them but like Steve said, there are so many right now it's hard to keep up and we can only report one every once in a while. Maybe open that up so we can report all of them when we see them.

Edit: alternately, could you put a notification on the posts that are reported so we can see that's done and move on to one that isn't marked as such? Then, with all of us working on it, there isn't any need to report a bunch.

You get all your exercise jumping to the wrong conclusion?

I see them everywhere, and I report every one of them.

Very much this. It looks like you can only make one report every 3 minutes. Makes it impractical to get them all reported when there are so many. I can see where a bot could make a bad time for admins if there were no limitations on that, but an indicator that it has been reported would help. Perhaps a work-around would simply be to post a reply saying that you have successfully reported it?

Except now in the overview, the last post is by someone familiar and respected, and not not by some RoboGeneratedNameSomething. I was using those to avoid the contaminated threads.
