Solid maple rear rout Strat body

I'm a first-time Warmoth customer and this is my new Strat body - solid maple with rear rout, 2 single coils and humbucker at the bridge, 5-way switch and 1 volume/1 tone control, and Standard Fender bridge rout. I haven't ordered a neck or parts yet but it will be paired with an all-maple CBS neck, black hardware and a design woodburned on to the front with probably a Tru-oil or natural stain finish. This is a gorgeous hunk of wood - I love the striped grain and specks in the upper corner. And really heavy - this body alone outweighs my headless Strat copy with hardware. Will post more in a few weeks in the In Progress forum.

I'm a satisfied customer but I didn't think to check if the standard Fender bridge was available in black before I ordered, which it's not, so I'll have to track one down or paint it myself. The only change I would have made is to get the vintage Fender bridge rout instead, which I think has wider string spacing, since I'll be getting the widest nut width on the neck.

I have a solid maple tele...IT IS THE LIGHTEST GUITAR I OWN...VERY LIGHT.

Put a good humbucker in the bridge...you will be fine...I used a Duncan Pearly Gates.  It is not seem overly bright...
To compare..all my other guitars are Korina and mahogany.

That beast will be heavy and BRIGHT with all that maple. Do you have pickups in mind already?

I've thought about it but haven't come to a decision yet - probably both hum-cancelling pickups for the single coil positions.  I'll be getting a Duncan Vintage Rail, Dimarzio Area 67 and Chopper intended for a different guitar but I could also try any of them in this Strat. Have also considered a Dimarzio Steve's Special humbucker which boosts bass and highs with less mid, or Pearly Gates as DMRACO suggested. I'll post something in the Pickups forum to get more advice.

One of the best sounding guitars I ever played was a friend's modded Ibanez. I hate Ibanez guitars but he had an all maple custom body with a Jem neck and a standard Dimarzio PAF classic pickup. The guitar sounded amazing. Since then I've took the "Maple bodies= screaming brightness" thing with a pinch of salt.

A PERFECT example of a solid maple guitar is the Jerry Cantrell Signature G&L.  The sound of Alice in Chains is nothing remotely close to "bright."

While I feel wood does have a slight impact on overall tone, the Pickup choice, amp, effects, wirings, bridge have a greater impact.

'Strue. Anybody who's ever played with a modelling (pre)amp can tell you how easy it is to dramatically change the character of your guitar's sound. The days of needing multiple amplifiers and speaker setups along with a huge stable of guitars are basically over. Previous modellers were promising, but not quite there. However, the Axe Fx is a game-changer, and it's only going to improve from there.
