so whats the deal with bareknuckles?

They are on the "boutique" end of the spectrum. Never tried them, but I've only heard good things. I've thought about trying the Miracle Man set to compare against the EMGs.

great sounding....EXPENSIVE!  I am not real sure they are worth it especially withthe current exchange rates....

I've got two friends who say they're the cats patootie.  I never tried them and seem to be stuck on Gibson Burstbucker 1's and 2's

Red-Mcmannus (a part time forum user here, and great friend of mine from my hometown), is a massive fan of Bareknuckles. He's got 'buckers in a couple of LP's, but I forget which ones. and a set of Piledrivers in his tele.

I'll get him to post his thoughts.

They're definitely expensive, but not THAT expensive, some other boutique brands (Lollar for example) charge more than they do.  Bare Knuckles are like $120 USD.

My Riff Raff is awesome; powerful, crunchy, and very clear.  Great note definition.  I highly recommend them.

EDIT: also they have a good return policy if you don't like the pickup and want a different model  :icon_thumright:

They are the bomb.  I have 3 sets.

Miracle man and mule in my Warmoth LP (MM is very close to the EMG 81, but harmonics are not as good)
Piledriver set in my Warmoth Tele
Riff Raff set in my Warmoth VW (Here sound clip here, sorry for the crappy playing, but it was just a quick rythem piece using my laptop mic)

They are a little expensive, but you will get a much better deal if you buy them from the BKP site rahter then through a US vendor.  Took about 2 weeks for them to be delivered from the time I ordered them until I had them.

Check ebay, too, esp ebay.co.uk - I got my distressed Warpigs on the bay for ~2/3 retail.
