With the myriad of different names for the same wood on one hand, and completely not related species being lumped under the same name (Brazilian, Indian or African Pallisander, Honduran, African, New Zaeland Mahogany,..) on the other, you do tend to become something of a botanist. And if you add the names for the same wood in different languages into the equation, you start start feeling very happy that each species of tree corresponds to exactly one latin name and vice versa.
