First build, learned a lot (mostly from the outstanding community posts here and Aaron's videos) , had a bunch of fun.
I'm on the short side and getting a little older. I've looked around for something shorter and lighter but could never find anything that felt just right so figured I'd take a lash at a short scale partscaster. Closest I ever got was a friend's Mustang; but I'm not fan of its twang bar.
The SkunkCaster required a bit of fret finagling and nut work as would be expected; slightly rolled the edges of the fretboard. I was planning on burnishing the neck per Aaron's awesome video but decided it didn't need it. It feels great, better than the 30+ years worth of wear on my 94 Carvin (which I still dig).
I hacked up the pickguard to add a 6-pos rotary switch for variable cap values on the tone pot, three 3-way toggles for parallel/split/series on the pick-ups, and a V-Treb in the trem cavity. It was a bit tight but fits OK. I'm normally a simple guy and appreciate the one volume control setups but I wanted some variety.
