Hey! Thought you guys might like to see some progress pics of one one of my Sims Custom Shop Single Cuts I'm building for a customer. This guitar has a set neck, 25.5" scale, 5A Quilt top, my "Ocean Blue" grain enhancement, African Mahogany back (with lots of ribbon) set neck, 3 piece neck (mahogany, purpleheart & mahogany), matching quilt headstock card, routed for 2 humbuckers, string-thru the body design, etc etc.....let me know what you think.

Heres the billet I started with.......

Awesome Quilted maple, where did you get it??

Thanks!. I have a source I buy it from in Washington State

I'll be gluing the neck in sometime this week then I will seal the neck & top, grain enhance the headstock card to match the body, then it should be close to beingt ready to clear coat maybe next week. I'll post some progress pics as I get more done.

Looks great. You should have slid one of the top boards to align the quilt a little better, but still awesome none the less. :occasion14:

Yea I know.....its weird tho, bc when I glued it up the way the light was hitting it the pieces looked perfectly aligned....oh well, its really not that bad & the customer loves it.

Believe me, It's an great looking guitar. I just happen to notice stuff like that. It's my curse.

I know, I'm the same way. But you know how figuring can appear three dimensional & move with the light, well, it just so happens the way my lighting was in the room I glued this up in it appeared to be lined up, but then later, I realized the figuring was about an 1/8" off. But its cool, I see this alot on other high end guitars as well....sometimes they line up perfect & sometimes they may be a hair off. I just need to make sure next time I have some better lighting

Just took a pic of it with the top now sealed & the neck glued in.......(the reason theres so much orange peel is b/c this is the sealer, not the clear coat)

Beautiful woods and some nice work!

Any reason why you went with a set neck instead of a tenon design?

same question...i ask it everytime i see it. That's the only neck joint? juss gloo? juss checking.

Man, that is some gorgeous wood goin' on there.  :glasses9:
Great work...
:kewlpics: :rock-on:
