Showcase Lies

O.K.

I'm a bit p***ed off at myself today.  I've had my eye on a beautiful quilt-top hollow lefty Strat body featured in the Showcase for a while.  I've been saving money so I can afford the extra $220 for a paint job that I was hoping forward to add.

Of course this morning when i woke up, my dream Strat body was sold.  Now I can accept that some lucky guy was fortunate to get the Strat before I could dig up the cash, but my beef is with the Showcase in general.

I search the Showcase EVERYDAY!!  I sent an email requesting that Warmoth add more of a selection of lefties to choose from (one or two is not a selection at all).  The response i received was an outright LIE.  I was told that lefties are regularly added to the Showcase, but they don't seem to last for long.  That is bull****!

I was visiting everyday for a good 3 months and the only 2 bodies were my beautiful dream Strat and a double cut away LP. Now there are NONE.

I've done a general estimate to purchase my strat body, neck, paint, hardware and p\ups from Warmoth and in addition to having a tech assemble and set things up for me I'm looking at $1500!

I greatly appreciate the large selection of lefty (copies) offered, but for $1500 I think I'll head over to G & L and get a quality custom built for me at my request.

Like I said, it my fault for not buying the body right away, but the direct lie from the sales dept. is what has me upset.

Get the RSS feed; they make Showcase items based on demand, not many lefties and I'm sure they go quick.

Visiting once a day won't always cut it; I had a new body disappear while I was looking for a neck for it before; it's happened to everyone on the board; don't be afraid to custom order; do a search and look at all the fine lefty bodies WillyK's ordered/built...

I dont agree completely with you... They probably add some lefty as long as the usual tax of buys of lefty...
If you lost what you wished so sorry, ask the guys here I lost about 10 things that I wished to have...
Buy a custom, lefty won't be so fast, as the lefty sales aren't so fast....

I can relate to your frustration with the lack of lefty stuff in the showcase. Those two bodies you mentioned were there for months and I didn't see any others during that time. It's the same story for basses as well. However you have to be able to look at Warmoths point of view, the showcase reflects what is ready for sale and we lefties only make up 3% of the guitar buying market. A large percentage of manufacturers don't offer anything for left handed players and those that do often only supply to order and with a limited range of models and options. Warmoth at least will build almost everything in their large range to suit us left handers so I can accept their reluctance to spec-build something that might hang around in stock for a long time.
I have only ever bought 2 bodies from the showcase (1 was right handed anyway). The rest were custom built and I have never been disappointed. Stay positive mate, dream up a better body than the one that got away and order it from a different salesman than the one who upset you. :icon_biggrin: G&L make great guitars but don't offer the tweaks available from W.

My problem was the outright lie from sales that the are regularly putting lefties up the Showcase.

Willy just confirmed they only had TWO bodies up there for months and thats what I saw everyday I checked.

The guys in Sales department do their best to give you accurate information. If they don't, it's not on purpose. What would they have to gain?

Lefty parts are sparatic on the Showcase. They're going to be for a long time to come unless more lefties are born.

I just would have appreciated a more honest answer like Gregs than someone telling me that lefties are regularly posted on the Showcase but they don't last.  Don't feed me a line of bull when I check everyday for months and find no new bodies...

As I said, my rep likely honestly believed that and wasn't out to lie to you. We see a lot of bodies on a daily basis so something legit may have spurred this thought process that direction. In fact, I do remember more lefties being in the Showcase in years past so it must have been fed lefties more back then.

Whatever the case, it's always good to mine the gold of good intentions.

The guys I've been ordering from (Spike and JC?) have been great, professional, knowledgeable, and patient. It's so great to call up a company and have someone answer the phone on the first ring who knows what they're talking about! Kind of amazing in this day and age. Just thought I'd throw that out.

Some bodies/necks stay less than 10 min in Showcase, so.....
You'd best go for custom order, just like me. I'm not a lefty, but usually the things I want are very specific, so I've wait more than one year and nothing... best go to order...

Dude, " regular basis" is a relative term. if they add one lefty a year, I would consider that regular.

And when you finnaly get your lefty and put it together and play, you'l be all better, and forget you ever posted this thread.

There are 528 righties and zero left-handed bodies in the Showcase.  Anyway, I got a quote for my body and the price is not much more than the body I missed out on.

My beef is with the salesman who tried to blow me off by suggesting that i was missing out on bodies that were posted when Willy and I know that there were only two bodies listed for the 3 months or so that i've been looking for a deal.

BTW, I have no intention in forgetting this thread, perhaps in a few weeks we'll see 3 or 4 lefties back up in the  Showcase and i'll feel that my rant did some good.

You are totally right.  That sales guy is clearly the Lefty hating equivalent of Hitler.  We all agree with you that he should be anally impaled on a barbed stake and placed outside the Warmoth factory with a web cam on him so all can see the righteous vengeance taken on someone so evil and foul.  I weep tears of great and magnificent sorrow for the harrowing ordeal you have been forced to endure.  Your bravery in the faces of such great trials is an inspiration to us all.  They should name a street after you in every town, and declare the date of your birth a national holiday so we all remember your suffering.  I just wish there was something I could do to ease your pain.  But know brother that in spirit and mind I am with you in your great and just cause.

Most lefties know they are in a prejudiced environment, and they deal with it, most of them have a sorta proud sense o humor about it.

Some times people just need to hear what they want to feel better.  Personally, I have no problem telling a crazy person "Yes Bob, the sky is red and all the cars want to eat your bannans.  Its not just you".  Hell, it doesn't effect my grasp on reality, and if it shuts him up, all the better for the rest of us.
