I had a problem in that my bridge humbucker ring was too tall for the Wilkie trem and the low E would hit it on occassion.  Spike at W to the rescue. With some 220 sandpaper, I laid it out flat and started to sand the bottom of the ring evenly to get it to the height I needed it to be.  Now it looks and plays perfectly.

that's a good suggestion  :icon_thumright: I was worried about that when I thought that I would be putting rings on top of a strat pickguard.

If you carefully mask off the top of your carved top body, you can put a piece of sandpaper on the masking, and then get the proper radius on the bottom of the pickup ring as well.  There are these cool devices that are used in violin making that more or less have a wheel attached to a clamp that holds the bridge, then you put a piece of sand paper on the body, and shape the bridge to the body.  The important part of that trick is to carefully mask off the body first.  Did I mention carefully?
