Shocked & offended by $35 picks? How about $25 packs of strings?

Oh I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. I was talking more about people who buy super-expensive components that have no effect on the sound, or an effect that "only those with extremely sensitive hearing can detect". I think everyone can hear the differences between strings and picks, pickups, amps, pedals and so on.

I don't even screw around with trying out new picks or strings anymore. There's always some new thing to try out but I did that long enough. I find a set that works for a particular guitar's scale and tuning and leave it be.

Great. Here are a few "new things" that have come out over the years (mostly within my lifetime):

Electric guitars & electric bass guitars
Roundwound strings
Stanless Steel frets
Guitar effects pedals (and rack gear)
Electric & battery powered tuners

I'm glad enough players tried them out so they caught on and now they're available to me.

You're coming off mildly insecure and defensive in the thread and I'm not sure why, we're all custom-guitar people here who are particular about their gear. There's nothing in my post that should even remotely offend you much less warrant the passive-aggressive quotes and history lesson.

I was essentially answering the first question you asked in your first post.
