Ordered a custom body, neck and pickguard along with a few other things. The bill came to around $1970.
I have a feeling the duties/tax/etc will be just over $400.

Asking those in the UK who have bought from Warmoth before.. how will I have to go about paying for all of this?
Will they turn up at my door one day and ask for the money with my parts in their hands? Will I have to send money off somewhere after I get my order?

What will I have to do in order to pay these additional charges when the time comes?

It depends on who the carrier is.

In the case of Warmoth, the carrier they use will take a cheque when delivering. You should get some type of pre warning of when they are coming. At least that was the case with the last orders I did.

If it is the Post Office and other carriers you will get a notification and an option to pay it online and arrange collection or delivery. Some will send a text message to your phone and not an e mail so something to be aware of.

With USPS Priority Intl when it clears customs Cosignia the Post office send you a letter with a code so you can pay online. then you choose the delivery date.

UPS Worldwide Saver they come to your door, where you can pay them, I've used a cheque once, cash once and they also have a swipe card. When you track you can see how much it'll be. I think, I'm sure there was a little more to it than that.

Yep, what they said. I'll add that if the total inc. shipping was $1970 you're looking at more like $460/£375 once you add up VAT, duty and the nice admin fee that Parcelforce and UPS both charge.

UPS is way quicker, typically 2 working days from Warmoth's door to yours, compared to 7 - 10 for USPS (mostly at the UK end). You can also get very detailed tracking with UPS.
