Seven string pickups

One of my next projects will be a seven string. I'm planning to tune to A (i.e. a tone below standard tuning). I'm looking for a metal sound but with the ability to really chuggachuggachugga if I'm in the mood for some doomier stuff. My soloing is more legato than speed demon.
:party07:

Someone will ask so it's a maple neck, rosewood board, probably mahogany body with quilt maple cap. Fixed bridge.

In 6 string, I'm not a fan of EMG 81/85 so not tempted by them unless the 7s are significantly different. I've got lots of A5 magnet p/us but also like the cool Motherbucker (ceramic).
I'm thinking of Tone Zone + Air Norton or maybe Bareknuckle Cold Sweats or even Qtuners (but probably only one at that price!). Lundgrun M7s look too expensive at ~180euros each; anyone actually tried them?

I read that quite a few 7 string p/us have different windings or magnets to their 6 string namesakes so has anyone any experience of a few examples of 7s they'd be willing to share, please?

I would go with the Bare Knuckles if I had the vehicle to put them in.  This guy has a number of 6 and 7 string youtube videos

He likes the cold sweats.  He had tried the nailbombs with a ceramic magnet, but likes the cold sweats better overall.

EMG 707 and 707-81 pups.  Have them in my 7-string. :headbang1:

Thanks, but I already said no to EMGs in the OP.

Never played a 7 stringer, but you can't go wrong with bare knuckle.  :icon_thumright:

I've got BKP Warpigs in my W soloist and agree they are great pickups but their 7 strings are over £100 (over $150) each. I've picked up a pair of unused Dimarzio Evo7s for £25 each on the 'bay and will try them first before any heavy p/u investment.
May be a while - I'm getting the itch for a bass build first.
Thanks for the input.

You said, "unless the 7s are significantly different".  :icon_jokercolor:

They are.  :icon_thumright:

You didn't say that.  :icon_thumright:

I have a DiMarzio PAF neck pickup & and a Evo in the bridge - they match up well. With two Evo's together, the neck PU is going to be really loud, and it just might have some magnetic pull on the strings? I was really used to Lawrence 6-string pickups, which are a lot brighter, so I have to re-adjust some tone settings, but that's no big deal. I may still try something else, but I'm in no hurry. I kind of like my guitars to be as different from each other as possible, it makes it easier to match to my mood swings. :o The guys at the seven string forum have a really low opinion of the Tone Zone 7, but I'm not sure it's accurate. In my opinion, regular rock n' roll speakers like Celestion Greenbacks or Webers gert overwhelmed by the lower notes, and it's better to rate pickups after you've got them going through some proper equipment.
