The shape is growing on me and makes me wish I had a flying car that folds into a suitcase and perhaps a sarcastic robo-maid to serve me insta-meals.  Too bad all the EBMM guitars I owned had cramped nuts (woka woka) and frets no taller than an arse hair.  Comfy otherwise.

Yeah, I dig that EBMM Albert Lee signature model's space-age look.  Regrettably, every time I've picked one up in a shop to try it out it was strung with .008's, which are practically unplayable for this here barbarian who prefers .011's.

I had 11s on my Silhouette Special ages ago and that was a huge improvement.  Just couldn't get past the 1-5/8th nut width.

I got a couple mo-hog body blanks that are waiting for me to finally dig in and build a guitar out of them.  Mayhap I'll essay an Albert Lee repro of sorts.  That'll teach EBMM not to price 'em so high and string 'em so weak.

Reverend also has some nice non-standard body shapes:

Diggem for those, as well.  Never owned or played one, but back in the day when I was into all things Rio Grande (pickups), I came close to pulling the trigger on one of their guitars.

Speaking of Rio Grande pickups..for those of you who have never found pickup descriptions amusing, I invite you to go through their site.  Their marketing guy must have been poached from some TX BBQ sauce company.

"Dirty Harry Humbucking

The gauntlet has been laid down! The challenge was to walk a tightrope between creating a humbucker that sounded great when it was split as well as when it is humbucking. In a perfect world, a split humbucker would still pack enough punch to take you to the hereafter, but the true crime is that in most cases you're left sounding like a pale rider. Only one pickup provides the absolute power needed to take you where eagles dare: The Dirty Harry Humbucker from Rio Grande! What do you get when you split a Dirty Harry Humbucker? A Dirty Harry, that's what! No empty chairs here! It has the power to put you out front and center in the line of fire! The new Dirty Harry humbucking arrives in response to the popularity of it’s single coil cousins (Dirty Harry for Strat and Tele), and with its “True-Splitting” 4 conductor wiring and 12 adjustable pole pieces, it brings the sweet and gnarly tones of its relatives to the humbucking arena. Get one any which way you can because it will quickly become your million dollar baby, without costing you a fist full of dollars!"

Joe makes some nice guitars. He's a local boy we're all very proud of. The shop he started in stocks a lot of his work, and it's nice stuff.

That chocolate Albert Lee, I think is one of the nicest ones I've seen of that model.

I like 1 5/8" necks especially since I had a finger injury a couple of years back. I have one Musicman and really like the neck. It's strung with 10 - 42 which is an odd set of guages Morse uses but it seems to make sense on this guitar.

I need to play it more so the frets wear out so I can get some SS6100s in there which would be better for me.

Haha!  Open headers and a hurst shifter can make any guitar a speed machine.  :headbang:

Stratamania - that's nice!  I had a Candy Apple Red and Tobacco Burst Silhouette Special.

That's a nice sparkle job on your Morse, there, Stratmania.  That model answers the question "Can you get a good-sounding guitar out of poplar?" with a resounding YES.  The Morse's I've played in shops have been spot-on, setup-wise, and have sounded awesome.  The version 1 switching is a little wacky, but the Y2D was very sensible to me.  If money were no object, I'd have one.  As it is, my Quty Pie kinda-sorta emulates the finish on the Y2D, so maybe I have all the Morse I need.

Thanks guys, the finish is called Cardinal Red, it's one of the special runs they do at times. I'd love a Y2D too. I tried this to get an idea of what the neck would be like on a Y2D, and it was my birthday and the rest you know.

The silhouettes are nice guitars, they all are, GAS alert :-)

Quty Pie, is a lovely looking quitar. I'm biased towards purple bursts on quilt maple too.

The Morse switching Ive got used to, it has a certain logic to it after a while. But yes the Y2D is more useable in a way.

Morse's brain function on an entirely different level.  The original switching scheme is insanity haha.  I have enough trouble throwing the 5 way selector on my strat.

With a brain like that he could have been a pilot or something. Wait, yes he was/ is...

It's when you see him switching pickups quickly and using the tone like a Wah almost that I find quite impressive.
