New in the showcase... one of the nicest ones I have seen...

very nice ..  I've always been partial to that body, but I find 2 issues  it is only routed for 2 pickups and  the Originals all have 3  , and like all Warmoth bodies they are bolt on .. Not a bad thing , but not the way Doug Irwin made them. Same with the Gibson clones.  Of course you can make it into a set neck or neckthrough with enough work

You can have it routed for a 3rd pickup... Warmoth does this for free.

I think the amount of work it would take is more than it would take to just build a neckthrough from scratch.  You can't really turn a bolt on guitar into a set neck and certainly not into a neck through.

Especially on a pre-finished one.

Considering base price on the Alembic Tribute , which is the production version of the real guitar is $12500 the bolt on isn't a huge deal .  "Tiger"  the most famous of the Doug Irwin Alembics took over 2000 man hrs to build, you can just imagine the labor cost...yikes

2000 man hours?  Does that include growing a tree? Good grief, thats 8 hours a day for 50 weeks, Impossible to waste that much time building a guitar.

I'd fire the guy that took that long to build a guitar and expected to get paid for doing it, Is this 2000 hour guitar made by the UAW? No wonder we're AFU

If I remember correctly it has two inlays like 500 or 1000 pieces... yes, it can take that long to do it...

A lot of the work went into the inlays, especially in the fretboard. It took him a total of 6 years to build it..a very meticulous and patient luthier.  Doug worked for Alembic, and  he worked with Thomas Lieber and Rick Turner  on it .  Rick went on to become a respected luthier , most noted for the guitar he built for Lindsey Buckingham.
