With some great amount of sadness, I report that Benjamin Tyree, cat, age 17-1/2 has passed away, after a his battle with an inoperable tumor.

Ben is survived by his adoptive sister, Moriah Sherie, and now resides in the hereafter with his adoptive siblings Maurice Eley, Amicitia Lee, Skeeter-Marie, and Earl Grey Teigh.

A burial service is planned for Monday.

My sincerest condolences. I know it hurts. Pets are the most honest creatures we ever encounter, and the loss of their friendship tears at our souls.

I told a friend of mine that in my next life, I was going to come back as a house cat, and she said "What have YOU done to deserve that?!?"  :hello2:

I have 11-year-old, and 5-year-old cats, both of whom I raised from kittens at separate times (it's complicated). So, two full-grown male cats who both think they're my boss... I am so outnumbered. I've lost a few to age too (2 dogs too) but it's still totally worth it. You want to be respectful and all, but a trip to the humane society is not out of the question - how better to honor a great old cat than with a kitten, waking you up every 45 minutes all night long.... :o

I'm very sorry for your loss. Your words on my post were very thoughtful and inspiring - thank you for that. I hope you move forward with great memories of Benjamin and when you're ready, adopt another "child".
Best regards,
PT

Sorry for your loss.  August is tough on cats.  Some felines were worshipped.  Would I be correct in assuming there will be Drambuie consumed as communion in this one's honor?

No... actually a time for sobriety, thoughtful introspection, reverence and duty.  The festoonery and jocular happenstance is for another hour.
