Rosewood ding - repaired (pics included)

Well, in a previous post I described the ding I put in my rosewood fretboard.  I tried the soldering iron - wet cloth approach to fixing it, and it worked VERY well.  The key is a soaking wet cloth for maximum steam - do not wring it out!

Anyway, here are before and after pics, as well as a shot of the guitar.  A mahogany sonic blue tele body I got in a trade from JamesL, 24 3/4 warmoth pro neck, Duncan 59's.  Sounds more LP than most Gibsons!

Sweet! That's such a relieving feeling-- the successful fix!

But IMO that pickguard should be black....
 
Wow, nasty ding, looks like the steam worked well!

I like the white pickguard OK but I think I would have gone with black, too.
 
I'm happy - it's not 100 percent back to original, but it is a really smooth, very shallow dent now rather than an angular, deep one.  My finger would "catch" on it before, and now it glides over it.
